Research @ WAERC

WAERC is involved in a wide range of interdisciplinary research projects throughout the world. Most of our research projects to date have been focused, broadly, within the remit of the Environmental Archaeology & Wetlands Research.
However, we also work in other areas of archaeology, including human remains analysis, palaeopathology at the transition to agriculture, Mesolithic-Neolithic transitions, and Iron Age studies. In collaboration with colleagues at Harvard, we are developing research into the full DNA analysis of an Iron Age cemetery in the Yorkshire Wolds region of eastern Yorkshire, and we have also collaborated on a paper that studies the Genomic History of Southeastern Europe (https://www.nature.com/articles/nature25778).
