Commercial Activities @ WAERC
Waerc@Umeå – Whilst still linked to the Department of Geography, Geology & Environment at the University of Hull, England, and continuing to liaise with our clients in the the UK, WAERC is now based in Sweden (in the Department of Historical, Philosophical and Religious Studies at Umeå University), where we benefit from direct involvement with the environmental scientists based in the MAL Environmental Laboratories . This collaboration expands the services that WAERC can offer to commercial clients throughout Europe.
WAERC Commercial Staff employ a range of sub-contractors for heavy duty percussion coring through clays and sands 
WAERC undertakes palaeoenvironmental and archaeological evaluations ahead of wind farm, pipeline and other infrastructure developments 
WAERC has access to a range of equipment for recording the absolute location and height data necessary for research oriented commercial activities 
WAERC staff advise other commercial archaeology units about sampling and palaeoenvironmental approaches on a regular basis 
Hydrological modelling in a GIS platform allows WAERC staff to assess impacts from dewatering associated with extraction (e.g. sands and gravels) and PWS drawdown 
Monitoring for in situ preservation assessments in a floodplain environment
